How to build a content calendar in Notion that you'll actually use

A practical walkthrough for creating a content calendar that doesn't become a graveyard of good intentions.

Every creator has a graveyard of abandoned content calendars. The problem is usually the same: too much structure too soon.

Start with a single database. Properties: Title, Status (Draft, Scheduled, Published), Platform, Due Date. That's it. Add a calendar view and a board view. Done.

The key is to only schedule what you're actually going to create. Don't plan 3 months ahead. Plan 2 weeks. When you publish something, move it to Published and write a quick note on what worked.

I also add a 'Topic Bank' database with a simple property: idea. When inspiration strikes, I drop it there. Once a week, I move ideas into the calendar. No tags, no categories, no complexity.

This calendar takes 5 minutes to maintain and has helped me publish consistently for 6 months straight. That's the real win.
